Chapter 95
Sophia lifted her chin and locked eyes with him in defiance, a mocking smile curling at the corners of her lips. She thought, ‘What if I did it on purpose? Do you have any proof? Even if everyone suspects me, what can they do?‘
Noticing Jonathan was looking at Sophia, Charlotte felt a sinking feeling. She said calmly, “My colleague handles it. I’m here to make a statement. As for why she threw sulfuric acid, I reviewed the surveillance footage my colleague sent me on my way here.”
Sophia looked at Charlotte, who gave her arm a reassuring pat. “The surveillance shows that the perpetrator, Ingrid, was indeed Howard’s fan,” Charlotte explained. “Her target was Sophia, only-”
Before Charlotte could finish, Yvette interrupted, “If the target was Sophia, why did Howard end up doused in acid? Unless Sophia…” She deliberately trailed off, leaving the implication and letting everyone’s imagination run wild.
Jonathan’s face darkened. Heather froze, momentarily forgetting her tears. Charlotte looked at the troublemaker, Yvette, with a cold expression.
Sophia crossed her arms and scoffed, “Yvette, aren’t you just implying I used Howard as a shield you all from imagining things.
Fine,
think whatever you want. It’s not like I can stop
“Howard has been inciting his fans to come after me many times. I warned you about this, but you just brushed it off. Now that something’s happened, you blame me. That’s heartbreaking.
“This is the third time. It’s Howard’s punishment. I’m glad to see it.”
“Sophia!” Jonathan snapped.
Sophia retorted, “Don’t shout! You scared me.”
Jonathan’s face turned livid, seething with rage. “You-” He was so furious that he couldn’t even finish his sentence.
Sophia smirked and said, “Do you think I’m smart? I saw the acid coming and dodged it. Howard didn’t. And now it’s my fault?
“Those were his fans he incited. If he hadn’t stirred them up, there wouldn’t have been an acid attack at all. So it’s his punishment.”
Jonathan, dizzy with rage, staggered back a few steps before being steadied by Wilbur. Through gritted teeth, he spat out, “He’s your brother.”
Sophia rolled her eyes and sneered, “A brother? One who gets his fans to cyber bully me, take revenge on me, and even throw acid at me?”
Jonathan shut his eyes for a moment.
Sophia smirked and said, “Jonathan, do you want a disfigured, good–for–nothing son who’s now nothing but a burden or a daughter who brings you
value?”
Jonathan choked on his words, rendered speechless.
Sean’s eyes darkened with suspicion. “Sophia, don’t tell me you orchestrated all this?”
With a smirk, Sophia replied, “Sean, setting a trap for me? You usually ignore me, but now you think I’m so smart? It’s ridiculous.
“Since you’re so clever at making assumptions, why don’t you tell me how I could’ve orchestrated this in advance and made sure the acid hit Howard with such precision?
“Are you seriously suggesting I bought the acid myself and planted that attacker as my mole?
“You despise me so much. Are you just jealous that I’m smarter and more capable than you? Worried I might usurp your precious spot as the heir?“.
Sean brushed off her words and frowned, “A few days ago, you went to Brethmere Resort when Howard’s fans happened to be having a meetup there.

Sophia batted her eyelashes with exaggerated innocence. “Yeah, they were having their meetup and happened to kick me out. Nineteen against one. was so terrified. I hugged my blanket and cried to sleep all night.”
Sean was speechless.
Charlotte watched as Sophia handled the situation with calm composure. Instead of feeling relieved, she felt even more conflicted and heavy hearted “The surveillance show’s Sophia dodged the acid,” Charlotte said. “It’s a self–preservation instinct. You can’t blame her for that.”
Yvette bit her lower lip, unwilling to give in. “But she dodged while Howard-”
Sophia looked at Yvette with an exaggeratedly wounded expression. “Was I supposed to stand there and let her douse me with acid? How could you say something so vicious?
“Sean is just jealous of my talent, and you, Yvette, envy my beauty. Why do you treat me like this?
“Jonathan, Heather, how can you see them gang up on me? We’re both your daughters. Why this blatant favoritism? Am I not your daughter?”
Yvette retorted, “Stop talking nonsense! I’m not jealous of you!”
Sophia’s expression changed as she rolled her eyes in disdain. “How did you ever become the top scorer among STEM students?”
Yvette shot her a furious glare.
Charlotte said with a serious expression, “According to the surveillance footage, Howard would’ve been injured whether Sophia dodged or not.”
The acid was thrown directly at them, with Howard standing in front and Sophia behind him. Whether Sophia dodged or not, Howard was bound to get splashed.
Sean said, “As the victim’s family, we demand to check the surveillance footage.”
Charlotte said, “Of course.” She turned, called her colleague, and then presented the surveillance footage retrieved from the hospital to the family.
After watching the surveillance footage, the Chandler family fell silent. If Sophia hadn’t dodged, there would now be two people in the emergency room. Unless Sophia planned the thing, the evidence clearly showed that Sophia was blameless.
Finally, Charlotte turned to them, her tone firm. “Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, you should be more concerned about Sophia. She’s the real victim here.
