Chapter 98
Sophia ignored him and continued, “Let me tell you, everyone in the Chandler family is a little off, especially Yvette. She’ll definitely use hat fake compassion to try and talk you into letting go of your hatred.”
Sophia patted him on the shoulder and teased, “You gotta stay strong. Don’t let her act blind you, or I’ll hex you!“
Wilbur closed his eyes, barely containing his frustration. “Ms. Sophia Chandler, this is my personal matter. I’d appreciate it if you’d stop meddling”
“Don’t mention it,” Sophia said with a shrug. “Got nothing better to do anyway.”
Wilbur thought to himself, I’d better keep quiet.’
Yvette thought to herself, ‘Sophia is downright terrifying.‘ She had been keeping her distance. But seeing Sophia chatting so animatedly with Wilbur made Yvette seem even more menacing.
Every time Sophia looked at her, it was with that murderous glare, as if Sophia wanted to tear her apart. She had recovered her memory earlier thes Yvette did. The Sampson family was already bankrupt, and Kevin was completely unreliable.
‘It’s fine. I can still find someone else,‘ Yvette thought to herself. She straightened up, her confidence renewed.
“Yvette,” Sophia’s eerie voice drifted over. Yvette nearly jumped out of her skin, her face turning pale as a sheet.
Yvette whipped her head around and saw Sophia grinning at her like a ghost. “Wh–What are you doing here?” she stammered. “Weren’t you just chatting with Wilbur a second ago?”
Sophia jerked her chin toward the quarreling Chandlers. “Look at your parents going at it, and you’re just standing here watching the show. What kind of daughter are you?”
Yvette choked, then snapped, “Aren’t you just watching the drama too?”
Sophia said proudly, “Hey, I’m the family’s officially certified black sheep. Jonathan himself gave me the title. Watching the drama is basically my job!”
Yvette was speechless with rage. Under Sophia’s murderous glare, she reluctantly forced herself to intervene.
True protagonist vibes–the moment Yvette stepped in, the two immediately stopped arguing.
Sophia chimed in again, “Jonathan, Heather, do you even remember Howard lying in the emergency room?”
Jonathan, Heather, and Yvette were all rendered speechless.
Wilbur nearly blurted out, “Holy shit!”
Just then, an excited, high–pitched voice rang out, “Sophia! I’m here! Heard you got attacked with sulfuric acid. I came all the way to see you!”
Dorian dashed up to Sophia at a speed that completely belied his heart condition, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “Sophia! Is the situation still
heated?”
Wilbur’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. The inexperienced young man was utterly gobsmacked.
Wilbur thought to himself, ‘Kid, you came all this way just for gossip? Seriously, have some manners!‘
Sophia nodded with mock seriousness. “Still piping hot. He’s coding in the ER. Who knows if he’ll make it.”
Dorian’s eyes crinkled with delight as he beamed. “Great! Sophia, you finally agreed to let me tag along. I’m so stoked!”
Sophia agreed, but she had no intention of getting too close to him. She asked dryly, “How?”

Chapter 98
Dorian grinned, “I was so happy I ate two full servings at lunch! I even brought food for you, Sophia, Let’s eat while we wait. I packed some fruit for
dessert.”
Dorian waved his bodyguards over and had them set the lunchboxes out on the bench.
Sophia didn’t bother with politeness. She just grabbed food and dug in. To her surprise, the food was actually pretty good, way better than anything the Chandler family chef could whip up.
Dorian’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Sophia, if you like it, you can come over to my place often: I’ll have my chef whip up something delicious for you.”
Sophia gave a nonchalant nod.
While the rest of the Chandler family waited anxiously outside the emergency room. Sophia, completely unfazed, actually started eating her meal right
there.
Seeing that Jonathan looked unwell, Wilbur hurriedly said, “My apologies, Mr. Chandler. I’ll go grab some lunch right away.”
Before he knew it, it was already noon. ‘Damn it, how could I make such a rookie mistake?‘ Wilbur thought to himself.
Seeing this, Heather couldn’t resist sneering, “So this is the assistant you handpicked for Sean?”
Jonathan wanted to explain that he hadn’t pulled any strings for Wilbur. Wilbur had worked his way up to this position all on his own–but the words
stuck in his throat.
Sophia chimed in, “Heather, to be fair, Wilbur is quite capable. Otherwise, Sean wouldn’t rely on him so much.”
Heather glared daggers at Jonathan, who could only think, ‘Why am I always the one getting blamed?‘
Yvette’s eyes lit up when she spotted Dorian. But then she remembered he called her seductress and instantly shot him an angry glare.
Yvette thought to herself, ‘Just a pair of doomed souls. What a perfect match, two not long for this world.‘
“Sophia, Yvette just glared at me,” Dorian whined pitifully.
“Then just glare back,” Sophia said, not even looking up from her food.
Dorian thought that made perfect sense. He jerked his head up and fixed Yvette with a fierce glare, his big, round eyes wide open.
Yvette frowned and averted her gaze when he glared at her. ‘That doomed brat is just so annoying,’ she thought to herself.
Dorian beamed like a kid who just won a fight and bounced excitedly. “Sophia, she’s scared!” he exclaimed.
“That’s her guilty conscience showing. Stay away from her. She’ll get you killed,” Sophia said bluntly.
Sophia finished eating and stood up. Her eyes landed on the stubborn cowlick sticking straight up from the curly–haired Dorian’s head. Feeling that familiar mischievous itch, she reached out and pressed it down.
Dorian stared blankly, completely confused by what she was doing, but made no move to stop her.
Sophia pressed down the stubborn cowlick, feeling quite satisfie sprang right back up, as if nothing could keep it down.
I as it finally stayed flat. But not even five seconds later, that little tuft of hair slowly
Sophia couldn’t help but reach out her hand. By the time she snapped back to reality, Dorian’s hair had been thoroughly messed up beyond recognition.
