Sam's emotions seemed somewhat beyond control as he struggled past the others and rushed toward the outside.
I saw that Gerald was about to chase after him, so I signaled to Murphy to block him.
"What are you doing?" Gerald's eyes were bloodshot, and his neck was flushed red with agitation.
"You really care about this son of yours," I said as I slowly approached Gerald. I watched as his expression shifted from calm to panic-stricken. He was even more cowardly than I had imagined.
"Don't worry. I just want to have a chat with you," I said.
Chad, standing off to the side, laughed coldly. He had no intention of helping Gerald out.
Gerald was so enraged that his lips started to quiver. He looked behind me, searching all around for something.
"Stop looking. Lorraine definitely won't come over. Today, it's just you and me."
So, he wanted to find a savior? As If I would let him get that chance.
"Say it. What will it take for you to let your daughter go?"
I knew he had been secretly looking for other men behind our backs. I crossed my legs and said, "Lorraine is already married. Do you want your daughter to carry the stigma of having a second marriage?"
Gerald was enraged after hearing the words "second marriage". His body shook with agitation as he refuted loudly, "You forced her into it! What kind of tricks did you use to deceive my daughter?"
He shouted thunderously, showing that his concern for Sam had completely clouded his mind.
Gerald suddenly lunged and grabbed my arm. "To what end will you torment and harm me before you'll stop? I have no grudges against you!"
"No grudges?" I deliberately lowered my voice as I looked down at him with a condescending gaze. "How could you say that? You wanted to kill my wife, and yet you say we have no grudges?"
If it weren't for Lorraine, would he even have had the chance to have a confrontation here with me?
"Gerald, I'll spare you this time. What happened to Sam is the price you'll pay for hurting Lorraine. If I find out you're still plotting against her, you'll have to face the consequences."
Gerald's expression looked even uglier than if he were crying.
"Sam is just the beginning. You'd best behave yourself," I warned.
