"I see you've turned against me!" Gerald slammed his hand against the table with a loud bang.
Lorraine had always been afraid of loud noises, and she was startled with a flinch.
In the next moment, the door was pushed open, and a group of men in black surrounded them.
Lorraine gripped her chair tightly with one hand, frowning as she looked at them. "What's the meaning of this?"
"Lorraine, if you don't agree, then don't blame me for being ruthless as a father."
"What are you trying to do? Don't you know this is illegal?"
Lorraine knew Gerald was capable of anything. Now that Sam was missing, Gerald would surely vent all his anger on her.
She knew she had to calm down and buy some time for me to rescue her.
Lorraine pressed the emergency contact button when the others weren't paying attention to her. Although she wasn't sure if I would pick up her call, it would be better than having no hope at all.
"We can figure out a solution for the company's problems together. Acting like this will only bring harm to yourself," Lorraine said.
"Shut up! You have no say in this matter!"
At that, Gerald waved his hand, signaling for the men to restrain Lorraine.
"Let me go, you lunatic! Gerald, this is illegal!"
Lorraine struggled fiercely with all her might, even feeling like her shoulder might have been dislocated. Her face turned ashen.
Someone behind her then shoved her into a dark room—it seemed to be a small storage space.
She had a heavy expression as she glanced around at her surroundings.
The situation was even worse than she imagined. Gerald seemed determined to use her as leverage for his plans.
Her phone had been confiscated before she was forced into the room, and I hadn't picked up her call either.
Lorraine wondered if I was still mad at her, and she couldn't help but let her thoughts wander.
Then, she surveyed her surroundings and searched for a way to get out.
…
Back at home, Wyatt hurried upstairs with a phone in hand.
