Hearing what I said, Gerald felt like something was off. His expression immediately changed when he realized his son had busted him.
"Did you just betray me?"
Chad staggered a few steps back. "Dad, I'm telling the truth. This has nothing to do with me in the first place."
He was just a bystander. Worried that I wouldn't believe him, he even produced a recording and said, "Listen to this. I actually tried to persuade him back then."
As Gerald's voice echoed through the recording pen, he snatched it away from Chad and bellowed, "You schemed against your own father!"
Chad had no remorse at all. Throwing both hands up with an innocent expression, he said, "Dad, you were so protective of Sam back then. You should've anticipated this."
A few days ago, he had just found out that his father had changed all the beneficiaries in his will to Sam. Though they were his children, they ended up with nothing.
"Do you think that bastard will take care of you when you get old? How could you leave all your assets with him?"
"How did you find out?"
Gerald had anticipated Sommerton Corporation's peril, so he transferred all his properties. If the company really couldn't make it, he would transfer all his assets to Sam.
"I'm your son, after all," Chad replied.
After Sam went missing, he realized something felt off. How could Gerald, who had always been greedy, be so concerned about an illegitimate child? It wasn't until later that he found out that Gerald had been transferring his assets.
Stomping his feet in rage, Gerald shouted, "Is this a reason to betray me? You're not even in your right mind! You're a gambler. If I were to put you in charge of my assets, do you think our family could survive?"
"Enough," I intervened. "Argue somewhere else if you want."
I couldn't be bothered with their squabbles, so I continued, "I don't care who you're giving your assets to. It doesn't matter even if you give them to your illegitimate child."
Patting Gerald's face, I continued in a disdainful tone, "I'm not done with you regarding Lorraine's stuff."
If it weren't for Lorraine's weak condition now, I absolutely wouldn't spare Gerald.
