The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 233

I had to do it on my own if I wanted any information. "Where are the men we captured?"

As for the bodyguards that had already been found, I said to Murphy, "Take them back to rest. I won't let them die here."

Murphy sent the bodyguards back before we went to see the men we captured.

Murphy had placed them in a rural run-down warehouse. Those men looked familiar to me. It was as if I had seen them before.

"Did you get anything out of them?"

Murphy lowered his head in silence. The police officer that was doing the questioning said nothing either.

I went up to one of the men and lifted his chin, sizing him up. "There are no scars on his face at all. Looks like you guys are being too kind to him."

Murphy immediately understood. He picked up a sharp knife and handed it to me. "Here you go, Mr. Joplin."

I walked around them. Some of them looked at me with fear in their eyes while some seemed calm as if they had much experience with scenarios like this.

"I know where your loyalty lies, so I won't make things difficult for you. All you need to tell me is the reason why you wanted to kidnap my son."

I did not need to know who sent them. That was not important. I only needed to know what was their objective in kidnapping Xavier.

I tapped the flat part of the knife on their faces. "You'd better cooperate. If not, who knows where this knife will end up?"

One of them looked up and said boldly, "I dare you to kill us. You'll only be a coward keeping us here and torturing us."

"Torturing you is not an act of cowardice," I sneered. "And I never said I was a brave person either."

I rotated the knife and stabbed it into the man.

The man wailed and started to tremble. "Y-You really stabbed me…" He looked at me in horror.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. It slipped."
