I locked eyes with Fabian, but I couldn't see any emotions hidden in his gaze.
Did he genuinely not know anything?
Was he just playing dumb?
I was feeling puzzled when Fabian seemed to remember something. He looked at me and said, "But I do find it strange, Mr. Joplin. Why would you bring your son to a business discussion? Could your son be the one who's manipulating the stock market?"
The fact that he asked that question meant he knew who the person behind the scenes was very clearly.
When Xavier helped bring Joplin Group out of that difficult situation, it had been widely covered by the media. Yvonne had even wanted him to appear on television.
Fabian had probably seen the news as well.
I knew it. There weren't many in East Habor who would dare to make a move like that, especially against my son.
"Since you already know, Mr. Zahn, then I won't hide it. That's right. That person is my son, Xavier," I said.
There was a flicker of surprise on his face. He probably assumed that the reports back then were just rumors.
He said, "I really never expected a child who isn't even ten years old to be the one manipulating the stock market."
The large room was filled with the sound of his applause. It seemed like he really did admire Xavier.
"Mr. Zahn, I actually have a question for you," I said.
"Go ahead," he replied with a look of amusement and anticipation. It was as if he had just gotten a new toy to play with.
I pushed back the unease in my heart as I asked, "Since you already know that my son was the one manipulating the stock market, then you must know about his kidnapping as well, right?"
If he was paying so much attention to Xavier, there was no way he wouldn't know about what happened after Xavier landed.
"I actually haven't heard anything about it. Who did it? I'll help you get revenge." Fabian leaned forward with a look of urgency on his face.
It didn't seem like he was putting on an act. It seemed like he really didn't know.
