The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 266

Their crying and sobbing actually looked quite pitiful. Unfortunately, I didn't empathize with them at all.

"Oh, so you've finally realized how to treasure your children? What? Is Jonas not my son as well?" I said.

These people would only start to feel the sting when there were actual consequences in front of them. I didn't bother arguing with them and looked at Aaron. "Mr. White, these are your students. What do you think we should do?"

"Mr. Joplin, they're all just kids. How about we suspend them for a few days?" Aaron said.

"And who exactly are you trying to side with here?" I roared.

Aaron was clearly unwilling to offend anyone. He hesitated to say anything.

"Fine. I won't make things hard for you. Two years. Once they're out, they can still return to school. I think that's enough time for them to learn some discipline." No one could change my mind once I decided on something.

One of them who had been begging me just a moment ago wiped away his tears and retorted, "If you're talking about punishment, then it should be applied equally. Why don't you punish your son? Our kids only did what your son told them to do.

"How could you expect my son to treat Jonas well if even his own brother doesn't?"

I turned around and sized him up. "I'll discipline my son my own way."

I patted him on the shoulder and ruffled his son's hair. "If I remember it right, your family deals in steel, right?"

I felt his shoulder tense under my hand. He lifted his head and met my gaze.

I continued, "I was initially considering if two years in juvenile detention might be too long, but now, it feels like it's not only the kids who need to go. The adults seem to need some education too."
