The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 278

"Get out? You're telling me to leave after bringing my son here to drink?" I glanced at the figure hiding behind Yvonne and walked forward. Then, I pulled Xavier behind me.

Xavier struggled to get away, but I held him tight. "What are you trying to do?"

Xavier pointed at Yvonne. "Mommy is still here."

"What does that have to do with me?" I retorted.

My only priority was getting Xavier out of this place. I held Xavier in my arms and turned to give Yvonne a warning, "Don't ever bring him to a place like this again."

Xavier struggled for a bit more before he gave up.

Once I brought him to the car, I looked at his flushed cheeks. "You drank alcohol?"

There was a strong smell of alcohol on him, and his whole body was heating up a bit.

I remembered that he had just been discharged from the hospital. He was not even ten years old yet. How could he go drinking?

Xavier leaned against the car window and looked outside.

It seemed like he was trying to see if Yvonne had made it out or not. After a long time, he turned slightly and pleaded to me, "Can you please bring Mommy out too?"

I couldn't help but frown when I heard that. "You want me to bring her out?"

He furrowed his brows, clearly seeing that I wasn't too happy. He opened the car door himself. "If you won't help Mommy, then I'll go get her myself."

"Xavier…" I was already swamped with work at the company, and yet here he was, adding to my troubles.

"Do you even know why you ended up here? It's because of your mother. If it weren't for her, would you have been dragged into drinking with a director?" I asked.

He was far too young to be exposed to all this fame and fortune.

I couldn't fathom how a child who was under ten could be turned into a materialistic person. And yet, it was happening to my son.
