Yvonne wanted to insist on going, but she relented when she saw Jonas from the corners of her eyes.
"Come back early," she said.
I replied, "Don't worry."
I rushed to the hospital with Xavier. I had been in the hospital for a week straight. I was starting to wonder if I was cursed. Otherwise, why were my children constantly ending up in a hospital?
Xavier had been recovering at this very hospital when he got injured previously. With him being a rising star, quite a few people seemed to know him.
I found it amusing how some patients were still making an effort to greet Xavier despite their various ailments.
When we reached the consultation room, the doctor immediately asked, "Why are you here again?"
When I told the doctor the situation, her eyes widened and she thought I was joking.
"You actually let a child drink alcohol? Don't you know that a lot of people die from alcohol poisoning?" she questioned furiously.
And this was a child! Those people had allowed him to drink without even knowing his medical history. It was unbelievable.
"Forget about that for now. Just tell me what needs to be done," I said.
The doctor seemed to have a lot more to say than I thought.
After hearing that, she prescribed a few days of medication. "Let's start with IV drips for a few days. We'll check on his condition again after the alcohol has been flushed out of his system."
"Isn't one day's worth of medication enough?" I asked.
That doctor looked at me unhappily. The disdain on her face was very clear. "Do you really not understand, or are you just pretending not to?"
She cleared her throat. "Your son has clearly gotten alcohol poisoning. I don't know how much he drank, but it must have been a lot. He'll need the drips for several days. He should recover as long as he doesn't develop a fever or rashes."
