"That has nothing to do with me."
When she kicked me out of the family, she specifically told me not to return. Now that Joplin Group was not doing well, she came looking for me, asking me to clean up after Chris' mess. I was not going to let her take advantage of me.
I carefully helped Lorraine to a seat. Once I made sure that she was feeling alright, I headed out to deal with the reporters.
"Mr. Joplin, did you open this company for your son, Xavier?"
"I heard that he's planning to bring his career in the entertainment industry to new heights. Will your other son, Jonas, do that too in the future?"
"I saw you holding onto Ms. Sommerton. Is she feeling unwell?"
"Is she pregnant?"
The reporters were astute observers. They could guess that Lorraine was pregnant just based on my actions.
I looked at them coldly and accepted a microphone from Murphy. "You know much more than me. Why do you still need to ask me?"
The press conference was meant to introduce the company, but seeing their research on the company, I felt I no longer needed to make any introductions. They knew much more than me.
The reporters approached me, stuffing their microphones in my face.
"Half an hour is the most I can give you."
Immediately, someone asked about Yvonne, "Is Ms. Langley not coming today?"
"Why would she come?"
Did they think that Yvonne and I would still get back together? Or that I was still in love with her?
What meaningless questions.
After a while, the questions started to bore me. I was just about to leave when I heard a child calling out to me, "Daddy."
