The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 344

If this news was true, wouldn't Xavier have to exit the entertainment industry as well?

I was planning on having Murphy look into it, but before I could even leave, Yvonne came to me on her own.

"Mr. Joplin, should I let her in?" Murphy asked.

I signaled for Murphy to let her through. Judging by her demeanor, I could already guess why she was here.

She was dressed very simply today. She looked like a beautiful flower, but that beautiful exterior hid a rotten core inside.

"You've seen the news, right?" Yvonne cut to the chase.

She held a file in her hands. I glanced at it but didn't expose her intentions immediately.

"I'm not sure I get what you mean. Are you talking about the news about Jared's exit from the entertainment industry or the fact that you're planning on transferring Xavier's contract to me?" I asked.

I could see the embarrassment on her face as I finished what I had to say. "How did you know…"

Yvonne had planned on easing into the topic and letting me bring it up first. She hadn't expected me to figure it out right away.

"Did Jared agree to this?" I asked.

I didn't even need to open the file to know that Xavier's contract wasn't inside. "Don't bother pulling out fake contracts."

Yvonne had been planning on taking out the documents inside, but she paused at my words. "How did you…"

"I looked into things when I was considering investing in entertainment companies. Jared's company is notorious for having incredibly complicated contracts. A file that thin wouldn't be it," I retorted.

I didn't have time for meaningless chatter.

"If you don't want the resources I prepared for Xavier to fall into anyone else's hands, then hurry up and bring the real contract to me. It'll be out of my hands if you take too long," I said.

If she wanted resources, then she would need to pay the price.

She wanted everything without having to give up on a single thing. How could something like that be possible?
