Yvonne was still around when I left for the hospital. By the time Jared arrived, I had already signed the document.
Before I left, I instructed Murphy to make sure that Yvonne got home safely and to avoid letting Jared see what Yvonne and I were doing.
After I stepped out, Jared grabbed Yvonne by the hair. Since they were still at my company, he refrained from going any further. But judging by his words, it seemed like he was intending to get physical.
"Get a couple of people to keep an eye on him. If there's any sign of domestic violence, call the police immediately," I said.
As an outsider, that was all I could do.
I waited for the doctor with Lorraine, and she quickly figured out who I was on the phone with.
"How's the situation with Yvonnne?" she asked.
I wasn't planning on hiding anything, including the fact that Yvonne had visited me in the evening. It was unlikely that Jared would let her go easily, so concern was written all over Lorraine's face.
"What about Xavier? Is he staying there?" Lorraine asked.
It seemed like she had more things to worry about after she became pregnant. I gently stroked her belly and reassured her, "You don't need to worry about Xavier. I'll make sure he's taken care of."
Murphy arrived just as the doctor called us in. When Lorraine went inside, Murphy immediately reported on the situation with Jared.
"It looks like Jared is begging for forgiveness, probably because he hit Ms. Langley yesterday."
He actually did hit Yvonne?
I was puzzled as I looked at the document he handed to me.
"Is this Yvonne's medical report?" I asked.
"Yes, judging by the details, Ms. Langley's injuries seem to be quite severe," Murphy replied.
He had gathered information from people close to her and even tracked down the hospital she frequented to secure evidence.
I frowned as I looked at the report. If Jared had any semblance of intelligence, he wouldn't have escalated things at this time.
