Gerald leaned forward with a seriousness in his eyes that made it clear he wasn't joking.
I raised an eyebrow and asked, "What if I say I want Sommerton Corporation?"
Geranld stood up and slammed a hand on the table. "Don't push your luck." He'd rather give up on his son than Sommerton Corporation.
His agitation actually served to calm me down. "Then what are you willing to offer?"
"I'll agree to anything as long as it's not too outrageous," he snapped.
The bait was set. I deliberately sighed and said, "I'm just worried that you don't have what I want."
Gerald couldn't stand being provoked like that. He looked up and said angrily, "What could you possibly want that I don't have?"
His fists were clenched tightly. My words were an insult to Sommerton Corporation.
"Really? Then do you know who Lorraine's biological parents are?" I asked.
He responded with silence and furrowed brows.
"Didn't you say you had everything?" I couldn't help but mock him.
But this time, he wisely shook his head at me. "I don't know about that."
I was staring at his face the whole time, but there was no hint of deception. Could he truly not know who Lorraine's biological parents were?
Just as I was starting to believe that she might actually have been adopted through proper channels, he sighed and started to look nervous. He could not relax at all.
"You can name your price, but not that," he said.
"But that's the price I want," I responded.
He frowned, looking like he was in an incredibly difficult position. In the end, he waved it off. "It's not possible."
Not possible?
That meant he knew the answer.
"It's fine if you don't want to tell me, but it means you won't get what you want either," I taunted him.
