The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 365

I poured a glass of water for Grandma as I observed Lorraine's expression.

Grandma had never been that fond of Lorraine, but she was chatting and laughing with Lorraine today. It was all because of the child in Lorraine's belly.

Lorraine understood that, but as she watched how happy Grandma was, she felt happy too.

"Grandma, the baby is doing well. You don't have to worry." Lorraine was in good spirits, and Grandma only left after she was certain that the baby was fine.

On the way out, she looked like she wanted to say something to me.

"Grandma, just say what's on your mind." Her hesitation was actually making me feel a bit guilty.

"I heard that your company is about to go public," she said.

I had brought in all my talent from abroad and only just finished a round of employee mobilization.

I hadn't expected Grandma to be so well-informed. The fact that she brought it up meant she knew everything I'd been doing, so there was no point in hiding it.

"So, you've already heard about it," I remarked.

She replied, "You're doing well even after leaving Joplin Group."

With a regretful sigh, she said, "Joplin Group hasn't been the same without you."

It was a complete mess.

She tapped her cane on the ground. "I'm too old and don't have the energy to deal with all this."

She turned to look at me. "If you still have any feelings for Joplin Group, why don't you come back?"

This was her way of compromising. I looked at Grandma and shook my head. "Grandma, you should know as well as I do that Joplin Group is beyond saving now."

When I was there, I had established a systematic way of running the business that had yielded decent results. But it had its flaws. The system couldn't be relied on for too long, and the company simply couldn't survive.

But I didn't have a choice back then. And now, with Chris at the helm, Joplin Group's cash flow pointed at the company's imminent collapse.
