The security guard mistook Yolanda for a troublemaker, and his eyes flashed with annoyance. "Mr. Joplin is a busy man. Troublemakers should just get lost."
"No, I'm not here to cause trouble," Yolanda insisted.
The guard tried to push her away, but Yolanda avoided his hand as she said, "I'm Cole's sister. I need to see him."
"Sister? Why haven't I ever heard of Mr. Joplin having a sister?" the guard asked.
He was someone who came from Joplin Group, and he had never heard of me having a sister even back then. That served to confirm his suspicions that Yolanda was a troublemaker, so he started to act more forcefully. "Hurry up and get lost, or I'm going to call the police."
The security guard pulled out his walkie-talkie. When Yolanda saw that he was about to call for help, she shouted at the people inside in a panic, "Cole, come out! You know I exist, don't you? I'm Yolanda, your sister!"
Sweat covered her flushed face, and her shoes had rubbed her feet so badly that blood oozed from the wounds.
She ignored all the pain and exhaustion as she clung to the guard's arm and shouted, "Cole, I'm your half-sister! Come out, I need to talk to you!"
This was her last ray of hope. She could not let it slip away.
"Enough shouting, you lunatic!" the guard snapped. He raised his hand angrily to strike her, but Lorraine suddenly appeared behind him before he could.
"Stop!" Lorraine ordered.
She looked at Yolanda, who looked younger than herself. Even though she was suspicious, she still asked patiently, "You said that you're Cole's sister?"
Yolanda had been so anxious that tears were falling from her eyes, but she quickly composed herself. She had never met Lorraine before, but Ruth had mentioned Lorraine to her. "Lorraine."
Lorraine frowned slightly but didn't immediately dismiss Yolanda out of politeness.
"I've never heard of Cole having a sister before. Are you a relative?" Lorraine asked tactfully, not accusing Yolanda of lying.
Only then did Yolanda realize that she lacked any credibility. She racked her brain for something to prove her connection. Suddenly, she thought of a shared memory.
