"Is that a threat?" Fabian snarled.
"I wouldn't dare. However…" I pointed at the surveillance camera. "It's all being recorded."
He hesitated before withdrawing his hand, and I said, "This isn't how business is done. You can't solve anything with force."
I looked at the others and added, "It's hot out, and you all seem so agitated. Just be careful you don't burn yourselves with your temper."
Fabian's expression was incredibly sour. For someone who had been in the underworld for so many years, it was the first time he had been humiliated like this.
"Then what are you planning to do about our losses?" Fabian had no choice but to come to me for this.
Chris was just a piece of trash. It was pointless even if Fabian killed him.
I looked at Murphy. "Prepare some refreshments to cool everyone down."
This time, Fabian didn't stop him. He probably realized that he wasn't going to gain anything here, so he let it slide.
Murphy placed the refreshments in front of them, but Fabian merely stared at me stoically.
"Mr. Zahn, have something to drink." I refused to show him any weakness as I met his gaze with calm, unwavering eyes.
We locked gazes, and neither of us looked away. I merely continued to watch him lazily as I leaned back into my chair, and Fabian started to feel pressured. After staring at me for a while, Fabian finally relented.
He finished the water in one gulp. "Go on."
I watched his men, and with a clap of Fabian's hand, they reluctantly finished their drinks as well.
"That's more like it. Integrity matters in business," I said.
I turned to Fabian and produced a contract that I already had prepared. "Here's my proposed compensation. Take a look."
Fabian frowned as he flipped through the pages, and his serious expression softened a little. "It's just one plot of land?"
"This isn't just any plot of land. Quite a few companies are fighting for it. I know the prices they're willing to offer and have connections to their developers too. If you like it, then I'll give it to you as a gesture of goodwill," I suggested.
