Audrey had just told Nolan to kneel and apologize to Shaun. She thought she had done everything for Nolan's sake. She wanted to keep Nolan from getting humiliated and keep him safe.
Just then, before Shaun could say anything, Nolan cast his gaze upon Audrey. This time, his gaze was slightly indifferent and disappointed.
"Audrey, do you still remember what I told you?"
Nolan shook his head and lamented. "You were good to me then and now. When everyone betrayed me, you stayed by my side to motivate and comfort me.
"I could sense your feelings for me, and I had once wavered. Maybe the timing wasn't right, and it was just a twist of fate.
"Forget it. I'll stop right here. Let's make things simple. I've told you more than once to trust me. Do you still remember?"
At this moment, Audrey's eyes turned red as she felt an unbearable pain surging within her. She sensed something amiss. It felt as though the distance between her and Nolan was getting further.
She stared at Nolan and opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
Of course, she trusted Nolan and wanted to trust him. But now, Nolan had offended Gregory and Shaun. That would make him lose his life.
