The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 380

"Dad, Mom, I didn't invite any outsiders. It's our family gathering today. Make yourself comfortable. Let's eat," Megan said.

Wayne nodded with a smile and said, "Megan, you've spent too much on this. We'll eat at home next time."

Megan grinned and replied with a nod, "Okay. Anything you say, Dad."

With that, Megan held her glass up and said happily, "Although Nolan's older brother and his wife aren't around, we've finally gathered together. Cheers."

As Megan finished the white wine in her glass, the others held up their glasses too.

Nolan was fully immersed in his conversation with his parents and eating, so he didn't make any move.

Just then, Tyler laughed and said, "Megan, we're returning to the village in a few days for a family reunion. Some big shots might be coming by then, and they're related to us. It's all on you to make Dad and Mom proud this time.

"You won't be busy by that time, right?"

Wayne and Melody set their cutleries down when they heard Tyler. Both of them looked at Megan anticipatingly.

Right then, Nolan said with a smile, "Dad, Mom, don't worry. I won't embarrass you."

Nolan took the initiative to reply although no one asked him.

Tyler immediately said with disdain, "Nolan, you'd better not talk. It'll be great enough if you don't embarrass Dad and Mom. By that time you should hide yourself. I'm afraid people might ask about your prison life when they see you returning there later. It'll be embarrassing."

Tyler had been trying to show his worth. He didn't take Nolan seriously at all.
