The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 485

Nolan had already anticipated that Wayne and Melody would plead on Sharon's behalf.

Although the child in Sharon's womb was most definitely not Niall's, the problem was that Nolan's parents had no idea. Even Niall himself only had his suspicions.

After a brief moment of silence, Nolan turned to Wayne and Melody. "Dad, Mom, Niall and Liana have lived through years of hardship. From now on, I don't want them to suffer another moment. Today, as a family, we've faced betrayal and pain.

"Now, it's time for us to finally experience the rewards of all that hardship. But before we can truly enjoy the good times, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you one last time."

Wayne frowned slightly and asked, "Nolan, what are you planning to do?"

Nolan let out a quiet sigh and replied, "If the child Sharon's carrying truly is Niall's, then perhaps I could find it in me to give her a way out. But what if it's not?

"What if this child has absolutely nothing to do with our family? What if the baby she's carrying is nothing but a product of an affair? Tell me, does someone like that deserve my forgiveness?"

Wayne's expression darkened immediately. "Nolan, you can't go around making baseless accusations like that!"

Nolan looked at Wayne and sighed again. "Dad, do you still think I'm the kind of person who goes around making accusations without any evidence? Over the years, whether it was myself, Niall, or Liana—right or wrong, we've always listened to you. But this time, can you let us make our own decision?"

Wayne opened his mouth as if to speak but then hesitated. After a moment, he nodded somberly. "Maybe I really have been wrong all these years. Nolan, do what you need to do."

Nolan nodded gently before turning to Niall. "Niall, can you accept this outcome?"

Niall was silent for a moment. The strong, unyielding man had tears slowly welling up in his eyes.
