Megan showed up at her office bright and early the next morning. Everyone was stunned—was the boss really the first to arrive today?
Not only that, but Megan greeted everyone with a bright smile. Even when she came across someone who was late, she simply smiled and said, "It's fine."
When Jeanne saw Megan, she couldn't help but wonder if Megan had lost her mind. After all, the wounds on her face still hadn't fully healed.
"Megan, what's going on with you? Why do you seem so excited?"
Jeanne couldn't shake the memory of how Megan had given her a thorough scolding just yesterday. This wasn't normal at all.
Megan grabbed Jeanne's hand with a grin and said, "Excited? Do I seem that way? Haha, so you noticed! Well, yes, I'm excited and so happy too! Jeanne, we're the best of friends—how could I keep my happiness from you?"
Her overly friendly demeanor left Jeanne feeling more than a little out of place.
Best of friends?
Yesterday, Megan was spitting insults, calling Jeanne nothing more than a dog, and today, she was suddenly her "best friend"? Well, that kind of friendship seemed a bit… cheap.
"Y-Yeah, of course, we're the best of friends… So, what's going on? Did something good happen?" Jeanne asked cautiously.
Megan burst into laughter, even going so far as to close the door behind her. She then spoke in a hushed tone, "Jeanne, I'm about to get my hands on the Spirit of Life Serum. Now, tell me, isn't that something to be excited about?"
