Melody stared at Megan in disbelief. "Megan, h-how did you become like this?"
Wayne's face darkened with anger, and he scolded her, "Megan, no matter what disagreements you have with Nolan, you should never speak to us this way. This is simply outrageous!"
Megan chuckled coldly. "Outrageous? Oh, you haven't even seen me being truly outrageous yet. Let me tell you two old fools something—I've been sick of you two for ages. The only difference now is that I'm done pretending, because I don't have to anymore!"
Megan pointed at Nolan and said icily, "Do you really think your precious son has amounted to something? Well, let me tell you, everything he has is nothing more than an illusion. It won't be long before I tear it all apart and reduce him to nothing. When that time comes, whether he lives or dies depends entirely on my mood. Understand?"
Wayne and Melody were stunned and instinctively turned to look at Nolan.
Nolan finally let out a soft chuckle. "Dad, Mom, I know you still haven't given up hope. That's why I didn't step in or say anything earlier—I wanted you to see Megan's true colors for yourselves. Now you've seen it, haven't you?"
Thinking Nolan was using her, Megan's expression darkened immediately.
"Nolan, what do you mean by that? You think you're using me, huh? You think you're so clever?"
Nolan looked at her and said indifferently, "Your usefulness has run its course. From this moment on, if you dare show the slightest disrespect to my parents again, I'll cut off your tongue. Don't believe me? Go ahead and try."
When Megan heard Nolan had the audacity to threaten her, she immediately pointed at him in rage, ready to explode.
However, Jeanne quickly stepped in to stop and said cautiously, "Megan, we're still on his turf, so we can't go head-to-head with him just yet. Let's wait a little longer. Isn't he heading to Eastland? Once he gets there and meets Mr. Norberg, Nolan will realize exactly where he stands."
