"Megan, did we make the wrong choice?"
As soon as the words left Jeanne's mouth, Megan shot her a sharp glare and snapped coldly, "Shut up! Wrong choice? What nonsense. You know as well as I do the kind of power Mr. Norberg holds. Besides, he controls the Spirit of Life Serum now.
"No matter how impressive Nolan seems right now, what does it matter? Give Mr. Norberg time, and he can crush Nolan completely. Didn't you notice? Everyone else has been captured, but Mr. Norberg isn't among them. That's because Nolan couldn't catch him—or maybe he didn't dare!"
Was it truly a matter of not daring to?
Jeanne had her doubts, but at this moment, she chose not to argue with Megan.
Even so, fear and dread gnawed at her heart. She couldn't shake the feeling that she might have made yet another devastatingly wrong choice.
Initially, she had believed that with Owen taking control of Myth Group, Megan was on the verge of an unstoppable rise. But now, it seemed that everything was far from settled. Nolan was clearly no less formidable.
If she had made the wrong choice again this time, Jeanne didn't even dare to imagine the consequences for herself. For now, the safest decision was not to get involved.
For a long time, Nolan remained silent. He sat quietly in the chair as he gazed out at the rain, which was growing heavier by the moment. The sky was repeatedly torn apart by flashes of lightning.
