The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 580

Nolan took a deep breath, his eyes still blazing with fury. He wanted nothing more than to beat Hound to death right then and there, but no, that would be far too merciful.

"Tie him up! I'll make him suffer tenfold for the pain Lense endured!"

At Nolan's command, Scarlet immediately ordered his men to tie Hound up. They then secured him to a long pole, leaving him suspended in mid-air.

Hound, though not yet unconscious, was utterly dazed. He had believed his assumptions were foolproof—that someone as powerful as him would be valued and favored no matter where he went. But now, reality had defied his expectations in a way he never saw coming.

"Nolan, I'm willing to surrender," Hound said, still refusing to give up. "You've vented your anger by beating me, so there should be no more deep-seated hatred between us anymore, right?"

Nolan spun around and slapped him across the face. Glaring at him, he said "I've made myself very clear—you're as good as dead! And let me tell you something—it doesn't matter that Lense is already gone. Even if he were still alive, I'd never let you off for what you did to him.

"So what if you're strong? Even if you were a Dragon Ranking powerhouse, I'd still make you wish you were dead for having the audacity to kill my friend. Scarlet, you can begin now. Rip out every single one of his fingernails and toenails. I want him to feel every ounce of the pain Lense endured!"

Even at this point, Nolan's anger still hadn't subsided. He pulled out a golden needle and jabbed it into Hound's body in over a dozen places.

Hound, who had endured Nolan's brutal beating without much fear, suddenly found himself growing terrified of the seemingly harmless golden needle.

"W-What did you do to me?" he asked.

Nolan responded coldly, "Oh, you want to know? Fine, I'll tell you. I used the golden needle to stimulate your vital acupoints, so that your pain will be amplified exponentially. Hound, do you feel it now? That surge of energy coursing through you? Like you're stronger than ever? As if with a little effort, you could even soar into the sky?
