Hearing that Nolan was still talking tough despite being held hostage, the Duo of Doom immediately snapped in a cold voice, "Nolan, if you don't want to die, shut up! Do you really think we won't kill you?
"Don't forget, it was you who pushed us to this point. If we can't live, then neither can you. Now, order Pierce and the others to back off! As long as we leave safely, we promise we'll release you immediately."
Nolan chuckled lightly and said, "Is that so? Then tell me, how can I be sure you'll actually keep your word? Maybe once you're safe, you'll just kill me anyway. I mean, who's to say you won't? After all, your mission was to eliminate me in the first place.
"By then, you'd both be safe and have completed your task. So, why wouldn't you take the chance to kill two birds with one stone?"
He had a point.
No one could say for sure what the Duo of Doom were truly thinking.
But even if that was their plan, they wouldn't dare reveal it now—not when their own lives were still hanging by a thread.
"Nolan, trust us. We, the Duo of Doom, swear that once we're safe, we won't kill you. But if we're going to die anyway, we're definitely taking you with us. So quit wasting time and make them back off!"
Nolan nodded slightly and said, "I've never heard much about your credibility, but judging by the way you act, I doubt it's worth much. So, tell me, why should I trust you? In fact, why don't I make you an offer instead? You want to live, right? Fine, I can give you a way out."
Hearing that Nolan was offering them a way out, the Duo of Doom were immediately intrigued. But at the same time, they didn't dare to believe it.
What if this was just a stalling tactic? After all, if they let go of Nolan, who could guarantee that Pierce wouldn't kill them the very next second?
Still, they had to know what kind of "way out" was Nolan offering them.
Nolan smiled and said, "It's simple. Let me go, and I'll give you three moves—three full attacks against Pierce. If you survive those three moves, you walk free. But if you die… Well, that just means you weren't strong enough.
