After Lyra left, Julian rose from his bed and paced. His body was excited, yearning for her. Again. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration. What the hell was she doing to him?
She had already left, but she could as well still be in the room. Her scent was everywhere, and he could still hear her moans and whimpers and cries of pleasure in his ears. She was gone, but he couldn’t get rid of her.
“You should just make her queen–”
“No,” he interrupted Yuri before he could complete his sentence.
Yuri sighed in annoyance. “Whether you admit it or not, you will never have an experience like that with anyone else. She is our mate, made for us. Who cares whether she is an Omega? She is the perfect fit for you.”
“You can’t be serious,” Julian scoffed. “I can’t have an Omega queen. This kingdom cannot have an Omega queen.”
“And yet the Goddess fated her to you,” Yuri pointed out. “Or doesn’t that matter to you anymore?”
Julian grunted in displeasure and moved to the window. Outside, it was still dark. Had she made her way back to the dormitory safely?
“I won’t get rid of her,” he finally said. “That’s all I can do.”
“Should I thank you or something?” Yuri asked angrily. “Don’t act like you are not doing it for yourself to avoid the curse.”
“I’m the Lycan King. I need to think about the good of the kingdom. If you cannot understand that, then I have nothing more to say to you,” Julian said firmly.

Later that day, Thea approached Julian in the banquet hall. The delegation from the Blacksword Pack was arriving shortly, and all preparations were finished.
“Your Majesty,” she greeted, her hands clasped in front of her body formally. “I tasked a maid with preparing your room, I believe it’s done?”
“Is that not your duty?” Julian asked her, annoyance brewing up inside him. After working in the palace for so many years, Thea had full authority on housekeeping matters. She was in charge of allocating chores and supervising. “Shouldn’t you know better than me whether it’s been done or not?”
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty,” she said, sounding contrite. “I only wanted to check whether you were satisfied. It’s because I haven’t seen Lyra, the maid I allocated the task to, and Alpha Zero called to ask for leave on her behalf. I’m afraid she might have neglected her duty.”
Julian had been ready to walk away, but on hearing Lyra’s name, then Zero’s, he stopped and focused on Thea. “What? What do you mean Alpha Zero asked for leave for her?”
“He called me early this morning,” Thea explained. “I was surprised too. I have no idea why Alpha Zero would do something like that, or why she would be in his company. To be honest, I do not think she belongs in the palace. Since she got here, she has been…”
Thea rambled on and on about the things she did not like about Lyra, but Julian had stopped listening. Zero, uh? As soon as she left his bed, she ran straight to another male.
