The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 20

“Here she comes,” a sneering voice said as soon as Lyra walked through the dormitory door that night.

She was dead tired and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed, but it seemed that the others had been waiting for her arrival so they could torment her.

Laughter bubbled up in the dormitory as more snide comments reached her ears. “Poor her. Who would have thought that the king would choose an Alpha female instead of an Omega slave? She must be so heartbroken!”

“I have to admit, I was impressed by her acting,” someone else said. “Did you see how she went down? You’d think she really fainted or something.”

“Too bad the king did not go rushing to her side.”

“You are forgetting about the hickeys.”

“Ew. I wonder where she got those from.”

“Could be from anyone. She did not spend the night in the dorm last night, she must have been out and about slutting around.”

“I can’t believe they are letting her stay in the palace. She is a disgrace even to us Omegas.”

“Sooner or later, she’ll leave.”

Leave?

Yes please.

Lyra wished Zero’s parents’ demand had been successful. She wondered why Julian did not take that opportunity to get rid of her. Why was he keeping her around when he thought she was such a disgrace?

After making her way to her room, Lyra shut the door, blocking out all the insults and snide remarks. Later, as she lay in bed, she told herself that tomorrow would be a different day, and maybe…maybe things would not be as bad. She had to keep telling herself that, otherwise she would fall into despair.

The next morning came, and with it the realisation that no, it wasn’t going to be a better day. After finishing her early morning duties in the kitchen, Thea informed Lyra that Crystal had specifically requested for her services.

She found out that Crystal was staying at the palace for the time being. Lyra wondered whether it was so she and Julian could spend more time together. One thing gave her a little relief–Crystal was staying in a separate residence and not in Julian’s room. If she didn’t have to see the two of them together, she just might live through it.

Lyra made her way to Crystal’s residence and found her sitting in the back garden at a table, having breakfast. Lyra could not help but notice Crystal’s blatant beauty and poise. Her black hair was silky and lustrous, flowing to the small of her back. Her eyes were an attractive emerald green.

Lyra could tell from a single glance that Crystal was a high ranked shewolf from a powerful lineage. There was no doubt that she was a perfect candidate for the queen position, if not the best.

“I heard that you asked for me,” Lyra said, coming to a stop beside the table. “How can I be of assistance?”
