The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 21

After the reception at the banquet hall, Crystal asked Julian to show her around the palace, which he agreed to.

As far as anyone was concerned, it was normal for them to spend time together alone after Julian’s announcement. Crystal also thought it was a good opportunity to get to know each other better, but Julian’s intentions were different. His main objective was to obtain information from Crystal concerning the Blacksword pack.

He could not directly interrogate her without arousing suspicion, so he had to put up with her chatter. It turned out that she had a whole lot of ideas about what she would do as queen, almost as if she had expected Julian to choose her.

While she had made the excuse of getting to know each other to ask him to show her around, she barely asked anything concerning him. He was not really interested in her either–he knew everything he needed to know.

To him, all the Alpha females wanting to be his queen were one and the same–they wanted to be the queen, period. They were all from powerful families and were well-versed in taking advantage of situations and people to get what they wanted.

All Julian cared about was their ability to rule alongside him and strengthen the royal pack, not the fake personalities they tried to assume around him. If not for her father’s unchecked ambitions, Crystal would be a perfect pick.

When Julian did ask about her pack, she held nothing back. But he realised she did not know about her father’s secret plans, so it turned out to be futile. Regardless, he hoped that by keeping her close, he could somehow find out important information about her father’s plans. After the walk, he led her to the residence that had been prepared for her.

“This is nice,” she said after looking around the villa and deciding it was up to her taste. She turned to Julian, a flirty smile on her lips. “But don’t you want me to stay with you?” She had moved closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. She ran her hand down the front of his shirt to his chest. “We could get to know each other even better.”

Julian had gripped her hand gently and pulled it to his lips. He gave her a kiss on the knuckles, meeting her gaze. “We are in the same palace. I’m sure there will be lots of opportunities for that.”

She had laughed and tossed her long hair. “Is that a promise?”

“You bet.” He would do whatever it took to make her think he was serious about this and get him closer to finding out the truth about her father’s schemes.

She had given him a sultry look and then twirled away, walking towards the back garden with more sway to her hips.

“Have you checked the rules for the training camp?” he asked as followed her outside.

The royal training camp was starting the next week, and she was attending. It was an event that the royal family organised annually and which involved elite members from all packs in the kingdom.

“Not yet,” Crystal replied.

“Make sure you do before it begins,” he told her. “The instructors are strict and expect all students to be on their best behaviours.”

“Of course,” she had replied. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to bring shame to the royal family.”

He felt an odd ache in his heart and wanted to rush to Lyra’s defence. It was like when Devon’s Beta had tried to hit her and Julian had stopped him. He could not stand the sight of someone bullying Lyra–it felt like an attack on himself.

He made his way over, thinking of a way to keep Crystal from realising what was going on between him and Lyra. But then, the words Lyra said to Crystal reached him.

Not everyone wants the king. You can have him.

The pain he felt watching her get assaulted intensified, but for a different reason. Rage blinded him as he got closer to her.

She didn’t want him?

Had she already moved on with Zero? His blood boiled as the images of the two of them tangled together in bed flashed through his brain.

How could she just jump to another male immediately after having sex with him for hours? And then she had the nerve to declare loudly that she didn’t want him, as if he was some insignificant lover she was tired of. Just like her former mate.

Driven by anger and disgust and hate, he slapped her as soon as she turned to him.
