The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 82

After ending the communication with Beryl, Lyra told Zero about it and told him she knew a shortcut they could take to get to her location.

“Is she okay?” Zero asked.

“Yes, she is fine.” Her eyes rested on Anna. “How's she doing?”

“A little better,” he said. Getting up, he carried her on his back, and Lyra led the way out of the shack. From what Lyra had sensed, Beryl was in one of the older guest villas in the palace that were rarely used.

The building was dark when they got there, with no sign of being occupied. They went through the back door, where they found Beryl waiting with a candle in hand.

“The electricity here is not working,” she let them know. “But I have enough candles.”

She led them to the room she had been using. The windows were heavily draped, which meant someone could not notice the candlelight from outside.

Zero lay Anna down on the bed and stepped back to allow Beryl to examine her.

“How could Julian do this? Has he gone crazy?” Beryl demanded, her voice filled with anger. “After everything you two have done to help him, this is how he repays you?”

“It's not Julian who did this,” Lyra told her.

Beryl looked at her. “He was the one who sent them to the dungeon, so no matter who tortured Anna like this, it's his fault. This wouldn't happen without his permission.”

“The one who sent them to the dungeon, and who asked you to leave, is the rogue king,” Lyra told her. “He assumed Julian's appearance and has been pretending to be the Lycan King. This is all his doing.”

Beryl's brow creased in a frown. “The rogue king?”

Lyra nodded. “Yeah. Instead of bewitching Julian to act on their behalf like they did with Devon, they faked his appearance. When I showed up in the dungeons earlier, he did not hesitate to attack me, and my wolf confirmed that it was not Julian.”

“Where is Julian, then?” Beryl asked, looking more puzzled.

“He is missing,” Lyra said. “After you take care of Anna, we can go find him.”

Beryl moved to the closet, where she retrieved her medical bag. “Okay. I know Julian can be cold sometimes, but I could not believe he was acting this way. Now it all makes sense.”

Using her tools, she sliced open Anna's dress, revealing the full extent of her injuries. They looked worse than Beryl had thought they'd be.

“Fucking monster,” she mumbled, her heart filling with rage. “If I had known what was going on, I would have tried to come and rescue you guys. But I couldn't get any information so I had no idea what was going on. I also could not contact my pack members and my phone lost service.”

“It's better that you did not come,” Zero told her. “You would have ended up in trouble with us.”
