"Enough, Wesley!" the old man said. Then he turned to Zachary. "You don't see lads this calm nowadays, Zachary. He has promise."
Aiden sat on the sofa and placed a pillow beside him, then he asked the old man to come over. "Your right hand, please."
The old man sat down and extended his right hand, putting it on the pillow. Just when Aiden was about to check his pulse, the young man spoke.
"A minute."
Aiden looked at him curiously. "What is it?"
"I must perform a body check. That's the rules," Wesley said imperiously. He would allow no negotiations.
"Body search?" Aiden sneered. "Make one thing clear: you are asking for my help."
"You blackguard!" Wesley roared. "I don't care who you are, I will do the body search!"
"Back off." Aiden tried to check the old man's pulse.
"Stop!" Wesley barked and tried to grab Aiden's hand.
Just when he thought he could catch the hand easily, Aiden evaded in a way Wesley didn't anticipate, much to Wesley's surprise. And then Aiden placed his hand on the old man's wrist.
"Why you little…" Wesley's face was red with rage, and he attacked once more. Everyone could see that he was putting in even more strength. The air around him was howling.
Zachary tried to stop the fight, but he noticed Aiden telling him not to move, so he stopped. Then he looked at his grandfather, worried. Jeffrey was worried as well. He knew how powerful Wesley was, and he was loyal to the old man, but his personality left a lot to be desired. It's me who asked Aiden to help out. There's no need to question him.
Just when everyone thought Aiden would be caught, they heard a light smack echo through the air. Aiden grabbed the young man's wrist and flung him away without much effort.
Wesley rolled and got back up. He was not hurt, but he was shocked. Even though he didn't use his full power, not everyone could take that hit, and he was about a hundred and eighty pounds, yet Aiden tossed him away like he was nothing but a plastic bag. Aside from him, the whole Thatcher household was also shocked, especially Jeffrey and Zachary. They didn't expect Aiden to toss Wesley that easily.
"Wanna have another go?" asked Aiden.
Wesley looked at him coldly. "Do you know who this man is?"
"A patient. I'm still saying that even if he's the ruler of the Forbidden Castle."
"Good! I expected no less from you, Mr. Finnegan!" the old man blurted.
"I presume I've passed your test. So, may I begin treatment now? I don't have time for riddles." Aiden pulled his hand back and looked at the old man.
"Of course."
Aiden placed his hand on the old man's wrist. A long while later, he frowned. It was but for a moment, yet the old man caught that frown.
"It's alright if you can't treat it. I've seen many doctors, and none of them can come up with any good ideas. I'm okay with it." The old man didn't sound disappointed at all.
"Your other hand, please," Aiden said. He didn't answer the old man's question.
A while after he checked the pulse, Aiden looked up. "Zachary, you and your grandfather stay here. Everyone else, leave."
"Yes!"
"Mr. Thatcher, I am not that petty a man." Aiden smiled. "I can't treat his illness today because I require a few more ingredients. Once I procure them, I shall begin treatment."
