Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 137

The Immortal Assembly had always been a big event for martial artists, but it was something that didn't influence ordinary people too much.

A gathering of this level remained confined to a select inner circle, but that circle held unparalleled power.

Daniel hadn't thought much of it at first, but as he followed Isaac to the entrance of the Immortal Assembly, he truly felt the excitement in the air.

Most of the attendees were grandmaster-level martial artists. However, quite a few attendees had also brought ordinary people along like Daniel did. With his and Charlene's striking looks, their arrival naturally drew a lot of attention.

Daniel couldn't help but remark, "This place is really busting."

Even Charlene hadn't expected so many people to gather in such a remote location.

A strange, invisible pressure seemed to weigh on her. "Why does it feel like there's a tightness in my chest?" she murmured.

Daniel stepped forward and took her hand. The discomfort vanished instantly.

"I'm here. You don't have to worry," he reassured her with a smile.

Isaac was a familiar face at the event. He greeted the acquaintances with a cheerful grin.

"Come on, let's head to our resting place first," he said.

Isaac led Daniel inside with practiced ease as he exchanged a few words with familiar faces along the way. This action drew even more eyes to them.

Daniel raised an eyebrow. Where there were people, there was conflict. And sure enough, trouble had already found its way to them.

"Mr. Hayes, long time no see."

A man suddenly appeared in front of Isaac. One side of his face was an unnatural greenish hue.

Charlene gasped instinctively at the sight of his face. It wasn't out of disrespect, but his appearance was truly unsettling. A long scar stretched across his face, resembling a blood-red centipede clinging to his skin. His bloodshot eyes made him look even more terrifying.
