Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 142

Isaac snapped back to reality and turned to Daniel. "Daniel, pill refining isn't something you can force. Even if you've failed, it's still a valuable experience, so don't be discouraged."

Daniel couldn't help but laugh. "Who said I've failed?"

Isaac's eyes widened. "What? You succeeded?"

It was no wonder Isaac was so shocked. After all, Daniel had spent only about an hour refining the pill, which was a far cry from what he had imagined the process to be like.

Daniel smiled and said, "It's already done. Take a look."

He took out the pill bottle and placed it in front of Isaac.

Isaac's hands trembled as he opened the pill bottle. When he saw the blood-red pill inside, his pupils contracted.

"I-Is this a Blood Energy Pill?"

"You really know your stuff, Mr. Hayes." Daniel gave him a thumbs-up.

"It really is a Blood Energy Pill! Daniel—no, Mr. Ashcroft, you're going to make a name for yourself at the Immortal Assembly!" Isaac quickly changed his tone.

"Mr. Hayes, don't flatter me like that. Just call me Daniel. It sounds more natural," Daniel said with a wave of his hand.

He took back the Blood Energy Pill and asked, "Earlier, Regina mentioned going out to shop. I thought the Immortal Assembly hadn't started yet? What's there to see in this desolate place?"

Isaac reluctantly tore his gaze away from the Blood Energy Pill.

"The Immortal Assembly hasn't started yet, but you'll understand once I explain it to you," Isaac said, not holding back anything. "Think of the Immortal Assembly as a formal auction. However, not everyone can attend, so over time, a tradition of setting up stalls outside the venue has developed."

Daniel immediately understood. "So, it's like the difference between an auction and a flea market, right?"
