Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 147

"Mr. Ashcroft, if you ever have more pills to sell in the future, please be sure to contact me. The Immortal Syndicate will definitely fetch you the highest price at the auction."

Regina handed Daniel her contact information.

Daniel took it and slipped it into his pocket. "Sure, I'll reach out if I need anything."

The box of herbs was large but not heavy. Daniel carried it to the car and prepared to leave.

Suddenly, Regina said, "Mr. Ashcroft, the Immortal Syndicate can only guarantee your safety while you're here. If some people have ulterior motives, you'll need to be cautious."

"Thank you for the reminder, Peach Blossom Fairy. I'll be careful," Daniel said with a wave, then left with Charlene and Isaac.

He had accomplished the main objective of the trip. However, even though Daniel had tried to keep a low profile, it was clear that certain individuals had taken notice of him.

Sure enough, as soon as their car entered the highway, another vehicle began tailing them.

"Daniel, these people don't seem to have good intentions," Isaac said with a grave expression. "Back in the day, I was careless and fell into someone's trap. I only managed to escape by risking my life at the last moment."

Seeing how traumatized Isaac was, Daniel smiled and said, "Mr. Hayes, pull over. Some things can't be avoided."

Isaac wanted to dissuade him, but in the end, he stopped the car. Daniel stepped out of the car, and soon, the vehicle that was tailing them stopped not far away.

"You've already come all this way, so why the need to act mysterious?" Daniel said with a scoff.

The car door opened, and a portly and wealthy-looking middle-aged man stepped out.

"You're Daniel Ashcroft, right? Let me introduce myself—I'm Rowan Crane," the middle-aged man said as he studied Daniel's expression haughtily, seemingly confident that Daniel would be impressed.

But it was clear that he was disappointed. Daniel gave him a look that clearly said, "Who the hell are you?"
