It was stated in criminal psychology that perpetrators would often return to the scene of the crime, partly to relive the events and partly to satisfy a psychological need.
And Olen Nyx, the old blind man, was no exception.
He had spent years setting everything up, personally making sure each stage of the plan was perfect. But no matter how much he pretended not to care, once all the clues connected, the answer was crystal clear.
Alden's men spread throughout Qranross. Soon, they located Olen's residence.
Daniel stood at the foot of the residential building, with Alden and his men standing respectfully behind him.
"Mr. Ashcroft, should I take some men up with you?" Alden asked.
"No, that won't be necessary," Daniel replied with a wave of his hand.
If the mastermind behind this scheme had anticipated his arrival, sending Alden and his men up would only result in unnecessary casualties.
"He's on the third floor," Alden said simply, then watched as Daniel entered the building.
As soon as Daniel stepped into the stairwell, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. The scene before him began to shift and change.
He stopped in his tracks, and after a full ten minutes, he exhaled softly. "This illusion looks so real."
As soon as he spoke, a bottle placed by the stairwell window shattered.
There was no denying that Olen was highly skilled. The illusion he had set up had struck a chord with Daniel, especially the scene of Pamela holding his face and crying.
The look in Daniel's eyes grew more determined, and his steps became heavier.
Step by step, he made his way to the door on the third floor.
The door suddenly swung open, and Olen's voice echoed out. "You're faster than I expected. Come in."
