"Mr. Larson, we will compensate you for the trip, but the collaboration is off. Consider this our official notice!" Charlene stated before promptly hanging up.
Were celebrities always this arrogant these days? Whitney might have some looks, but in the acting industry, she wasn't anything special—certainly not an A-lister. Yet the arrogance in her tone was just out of this world. It was no wonder Daniel called her directly to cancel their collaboration.
He must have been absolutely furious.
…
"Are you satisfied now? Can you get out of my car?" Daniel shot her a glance.
"Fine!" Whitney was shaking with rage as she stormed out of the car, huffing as she left.
Her manager quickly chased after her.
Meanwhile, the assistant panicked. She still had to handle several huge suitcases, after all.
But Whitney didn't even look back. Without a second thought, she left her assistant behind, hailed a cab, and took off with her manager.
"I feel like I've seen you before," Daniel said while staring at the assistant.
"You must be mistaken," she replied in that unmistakably unique voice of hers.
Daniel's eyes widened in shock. "Wait… You… You're Mikayla? Mikayla York?"
Mikayla immediately turned her head away. "No, I'm not!"
Her reaction only confirmed Daniel's suspicions.
"Looks like you don't have anywhere to go right now. How about this? I'll take you to the company," he suggested.
"No!" Mikayla instinctively refused. But then, she realized that in Whitney's rush to leave, she hadn't even given her an address. What else could she do?
"...Fine," she finally agreed, resigned to her situation.
