Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 207

This year's celebrity charity event focused on the devastating flood that struck in July. The disaster had left tens of thousands homeless in the neighboring Ridgevale mountain villages.

Mikayla saw this as an opportunity to reclaim her superstar status. Not only would this boost her influence, but it would also provide real aid to those affected—a win-win situation.

At Mikayla's enthusiastic invitation, Charlene didn't spare a thought for Jennifer and Zidane's situation. With their capabilities, they'd find their way in if they wanted to. After all, it wasn't her place to worry about them.

"This is Mr. Orson Holt and Mr. Quillan Drake," Mikayla said warmly.

Charlene smiled and greeted them politely.

However, Daniel had no interest in socializing. Rather than making small talk, he preferred to sit in a quiet corner and enjoy the food.

He had to admit that the chefs Mikayla had hired were exceptional, especially when it came to the pastries. Just one bite of the honey cornbread left a lingering sweetness, and it made him savor every moment.

"Mr. Ashcroft, I didn't expect to see you here." Willow approached with a smile and sat down beside him.

"Ms. Keaton, I'm surprised you have the time to attend." Daniel raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Oh, come on. You make it sound like I'm drowning in work." She narrowed her eyes and chuckled. "A woman like me doesn't get much attention here."

He smirked.

Not the center of attention? If Willow wanted, she could have every young heartthrob in the room lining up and sweet-talking her like she was a queen.

"A few of the hottest celebrities are here tonight. Aren't you going to mingle with them, Mr. Ashcroft?" Willow glanced at him.

Daniel picked up another piece of honey cornbread. "Not interested."
