Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 249

The best course of action right now was undoubtedly to wait for the negative effects of the youthify cream to surface. Once that happened, Daniel wouldn't even lift a finger—Jennifer, along with Hibari Corporation's long-established reputation, would collapse on their own.

But Daniel wasn't about to waste time waiting. Moreover, the sooner this issue was exposed, the more people could be saved from harm.

"For the next few days, just ignore the media storm and focus on what needs to be done. Also, you don't have to give any more response to the public," Daniel instructed.

Charlene looked at him with a conflicted expression. "Daniel, no matter what, Jennifer is still your wife—"

"Don't worry. Even if she's going to die, it'll be by my hand," Daniel said before turning and leaving.

As soon as Daniel stepped out of Geller Cosmetics headquarters, Zidane appeared, and Jennifer appeared in front of him.

"Mr. Ashcroft, you seem to be in a hurry. Where are you off to?" Zidane asked with a smirk.

Daniel was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected Zidane to have the guts to confront him like this at such a time. His gaze shifted past Zidane and landed on Jennifer.

Jennifer instinctively took a step back, her face paling slightly. But then she mustered her courage and met Daniel's gaze.

"Next time, you should think before you act. I don't want you to die at the hands of someone else," Daniel said coldly.

"What do you mean by that?" Jennifer immediately erupted in anger.

In the past, she had felt unworthy of even speaking to Daniel. But now, things were different.

Her partnership with Hibari Corporation had given her an unprecedented sense of accomplishment.

"Who are you to tell me what to do?" Jennifer grew more worked up as she spoke.

Zidane tugged at her arm. "Don't let him provoke you. You'll just fall into his trap if you do."

Jennifer took a deep breath and then shot Daniel a cold glance. "Daniel, this is just the beginning. You'll come back to me, just like before."
