Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 26

Daniel was not a masochist, so he would usually push such painful memories aside. But hearing Conor's question, he frowned and began to recollect the past.

Suddenly, his heart gave a sharp jolt.

Cody's face appeared in his mind in the second year of his marriage.

"Daniel, don't worry. I'll cure you even if it costs me my life! But right now, our family is being targeted. If you can truly hear me, remember one thing—Ashcroft Manor! Only the Ashcrofts can enter the place!"

After speaking, Cody wiped away the tears at the corner of his eyes, straightened up, and left.

That was Daniel's last memory of Cody.

"Ashcroft Manor!" Daniel murmured to himself, taking a deep breath before decisively pushing aside the rest of the memory.

"Mr. Fuentes, I'll leave the company matters to you! Here's a million dollars as startup funds. I know it's insufficient, but I'll find a way!" He placed the bank card on the table.

"Mr. Ashcroft, you don't need to worry about the funding. I know a little about the company's accounts. Some assets can be recovered, which will be enough for us," Laila said with a smile.

Conor also smiled. "You don't need to worry about the money. I have some here, too!"

But Daniel shook his head. "Mr. Fuentes, Ms. Ballard, you've already given so much. Let me handle the rest. You focus on preparing, while I'll take back the company!"

A cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

Jennifer, that malicious woman, had used every trick to seize the Ashcroft family's assets. It was time for her to pay it all back with interest.

"By the way, here are the company's asset details." Laila took out the asset proof and the will left by Cody.

Looking at the date of the will, Daniel's eyes reddened.
