“Wasn’t it you who wrote that story, Freya?”

Freya froze, staring in disbelief. “When did you read my novel? No–who let you read my novel? Wait a second–how did you even know which one was mine? I don’t remember ever telling you!”
“You didn’t,” Aiden said matter–of–factly. “But one time I walked past your laptop and saw the protagonist’s name on the screen. Later, at school, there wasn’t much to do, so I started reading your novel just to kill time.”
Then, with a wide–eyed innocent look, he asked, “Can you tell me what happens next? I promise I won’t spoil it for anyone.”
“You… you read that one? The ‘bossy CEO falls in love with me‘ type of story?” Freya felt like she’d just been punched in the gut. She had pride, okay? If anyone close to her ever read one of her over–the–top romances, she’d want to curl up and die. And now a kid had read it? Oh, God.
“Huh? I don’t think that’s the title,” Aiden said, confused. “But yeah, I think the guy’s a CEO. I thought parts of it were kinda weird though. Like, the male lead gets hit by a car, but he doesn’t lose any limbs–he just loses his memory? And then he somehow goes bankrupt because of that? And then the female lead randomly finds him and takes him home, and he falls in love with her? I mean, if someone loses their memory, do they lose their brain too? The girl can’t even remember her keys when she leaves the house.”
“That’s all made up! It’s just fiction, written to entertain readers,” Freya defended quickly. “Of course the plot is a bit dramatic —it’s what makes a story engaging! No one wants to read a boring slice–of–life with zero plot twists.”
