Chapter 261 I Didn’t Mean It
“Jasmine’s not the type to run away just because someone confessed to her, Freya said thoughtfully. “Even if she wanted to leave, I’m sure she’d talk to you first–she wouldn’t just disappear without a word. You rushing over here all flustered actually makes it look kind of forced.”
“Now that you mention it… that might be true.” Waylon paused, caught off guard by the perspective.
“But what if she really did take it the wrong way? Then I’d miss my chance completely! No, no, I still have to explain–worst case, I’ll just pretend last night was a drunken round of “Truth or Dare‘ that went off the rails.”
“So what, you’re just never going to tell her how you really feel? You finally said something, but now you’re going to backtrack? Then if you bring it up again later, she might think you’re joking–or worse, think you’re wishy–washy. What’s she supposed to believe?”
“I’ll make sure I’m sober next time. I’ll be better prepared so she knows I meant what I said.” Waylon frowned, giving his answer seriously.
Freya sighed. “Alright, if that’s your plan, it might actually work. To be fair, it’s not a bad approach. When a direct confession is guaranteed to be rejected, staying in that gray area can be a real advantage.”
“Freya, you get me!” Waylon lit up with relief. “So I’ll just wait for Jasmine to reach out to you, and then I’ll explain everything to her
“Fine, I just hope you really can explain it clearly. But when the time comes, make sure to leave me out of it. I don’t want to end up on Jasmine’s blacklist.”
“I’ll say Louis came to see you today, and I insisted on tagging along. Then I found out you were meeting up with Jasmine and just invited myself.” Waylon understood how critical this was–if even Freya couldn’t reach Jasmine, then who else could? “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re in the clear.”
Seeing Waylon this tense–rare for him–Louis couldn’t help but feel a little sympathy, especially after Freya poured him a cup of tea, which only made Waylon look more pitiful. So Louis kindly changed the subject to business matters.
Waylon’s attention drifted a bit, and though he seemed to settle
in some, he was clearly
distracted. His responses lacked their usual sharpness–even Freya could tell something was

Chapter 261 I Didn’t Mean It
“If you can’t hold it together now, you’re just going to screw up more when she gets here. Keep calm,” Louis said with a sigh.
“I knew falling for someone would make me dumb. The moment you catch feelings, it’s all downhill from there.” Waylon sounded frustrated. “Even when I started my first business, I wasn’t this nervous.”
Freya nodded. It was obvious–he really was a mess. And to think, this was a guy who had it all, looks, money, charm… and now he was acting like a lovesick fool.
Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait long. About half an hour later, Jasmine contacted Freya, who then shared the location of the restaurant they’d booked in advance. The three of them hurried over.
When Jasmine walked into the private room, she hesitated at the door. Freya immediately stood and greeted her with enthusiasm, “Jasmine, come in! We’ve been waiting for you!”
Jasmine’s expression showed obvious hesitation. Freya, acting like she just realized something, added quickly,
“I originally wanted to have dinner with you one–on–one, but right after I called you this afternoon, someone else showed up to visit me–and he insisted on tagging along.”
“What do you mean ‘someone else? That sounds weird!” Waylon cut in, trying to keep things light while watching Jasmine’s face carefully. “You can just call me Waylon, it’s not a big deal.”
“Well, I thought it sounded awkward since you’re older than me. But since you brought it up yourself, don’t blame me for taking advantage of it.” Freya played along to ease the tension. “Come, Jasmine, sit here.”
She naturally pulled out the chair beside Waylon, and Jasmine quietly took the seat.
