A Second Chance At Forever novel (Eleanor and Bernard) novel Chapter 1530

Eleanor couldn’t do anything, reluctantly bidding farewell to the doctor.

Scott, who had been anxiously waiting outside the door, immediately inquired as the physician departed, "Miss Eleanor, the young master and miss were asking about Mr. Laurence's condition. What should I tell them?"

Before Eleanor could muster a response, Bernard's cool, detached voice wafted from inside, "Tell them it's just a cold, and not to worry."

Scott nodded and descended the stairs, leaving Eleanor alone, shivering in the hallway, uncertain of how much longer Bernard would remain by her side...

She knew that from this night forward, she was ensnared in a fear of losing Bernard that would haunt her restless days and sleepless nights, even though he was still there.

The day Damian left for his studies abroad, the Laurence and Sharp families came to see him off. The garden was bustling with people, much like the day of his naming ceremony a decade prior, but time had reshaped the adults and the children had grown.

Damian, a mere ten years old, had inherited the striking features and stature of Eleanor and Bernard. His delicate profile and tall figure already bore the air of a young noble, and with an IQ that soared to 180, everyone couldn't help but marvel at the prodigy.

Particularly Cedric, who sucked in a breath of cool air as he watched Damian descend the grand staircase in his crisp white sweater, one hand in his pocket and the other clutching a satchel. His poised demeanor was a stark contrast to his own children, Elwood and Selene, who were clad in elementary school uniforms and squabbling over a piece of cake.

"They're the same age, yet one's heading to a prestigious academy while those two dunderheads are still in grade school. It's infuriating!" Cedric grumbled.

Hailey rolled her eyes and retorted, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Cedric. How many times must I remind you of that?"

Grinding his teeth, Cedric strode over to Elwood and Selene, snatched the contested cake from their hands, and stuffed it into his mouth. "If you two don't skip a grade and make it to high school by next year, I'll break your legs!"

Elwood and Selene deflated like punctured balloons. "Dad, aren't you setting the bar a bit too high for us?" they whined.

Cedric was about to roar a response when a crash echoed from the living room. A vase had toppled, courtesy of Beth's clumsy mishap. The adults quickly gathered around, lifting her up, bombarding her with concerns for her wellbeing.
