As Bernard escorted Nina down the aisle under the watchful eyes of the guests, he placed her hand into Israel's and whispered a stern warning to his nephew, "If you don't treat my girl right, I'll make you pay."

Nina, moved to tears by his words, saw through her blurred vision only Bernard's benignly wishing face. It dawned on her that in her uncle’s heart… he had always treated her like a daughter.
