A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 126

Terrified, Jordyn hid behind Holden's leg, peeking out at Declan with wide, fearful eyes before quickly ducking back out of sight.

The couple was clearly ready to bolt to save themselves.

Winifred grabbed her medical kit. This time, no one dared stop her.

But as she turned to leave, Declan grabbed her arm.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm done with my work here. I'm going home."

"No way!"

Declan yanked her backward, forcing her down onto the sofa. He snatched her medical kit and tossed it aside, then pointed directly at Iris. "You! Get back on that bed!"

Iris jumped, retreating behind Holden and grabbing his arm for protection. "W-what do you want?"

"We all leave together," Declan declared. "Nobody goes anywhere until my woman is done eating."

It wasn't an outrageous demand. Holden turned to Iris and spoke gently. "Let's just rest a little longer."

Iris nodded, though she shot Declan a dark glare.

Everyone knew she was Holden's woman, and that he protected her fiercely. If Holden really wanted to throw down, he could easily dismantle the erratic, out-of-shape Declan. But they were guests in the Sutton household; Holden's priority was his public image, so he chose not to engage with a madman.

Iris climbed back onto the bed. Waiting wasn't a big deal. She actually wanted Winifred to stay a little longer anyway, hoping to find another excuse to humiliate her. Ordering Winifred around in front of Holden felt incredibly satisfying.

Years ago, she had decided Holden was the one for her and had actively pursued him. But Winifred had swooped in and stolen him away. Iris had been forced to sit on the sidelines, tortured by the sight of Holden doting on Winifred, their relationship impossibly sweet.

But today, the tables had turned. Holden was hers.

Iris cleared her throat loudly from the bed.

Jordyn quickly ducked back. But the room smelled so good, and Declan was eating with such exaggerated delight. She couldn't help but peek out again.

Beautiful, sweet cakes were a toddler's ultimate weakness. Even if she had eaten lunch, she could have put away two slices, let alone now when she was starving.

She quietly tugged on Holden's pants. "Uncle Holden, I want some."

Before Holden could reply, Iris snapped, "Come eat this cake over here!"

Jordyn pouted. "That one is all mashed up and gross. I don't want it."

Holden looked over at Winifred, his eyes silently pleading for a slice for the little girl.

Holding his gaze, Winifred picked up her fork, pierced a piece of decadent caramel cake, and slowly, deliberately, ate it right in front of him.
