A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 192

That included the veteran head butler, Arthur, who had left the Lockwoods and vanished without a trace.

Faye lowered her eyes, shuffling her feet against the floor.

"My dad... he's just so disappointing," she sobbed, overwhelmed by a fresh wave of tears.

Winifred spent a few more moments consoling her.

Between sniffles, Faye explained, "Three years ago, my dad forced us to move out of Kingsbridge and relocate to Solis Hill. I went from a top-tier middle school in the city to a tiny village school with barely thirty kids. Ethan's oldest daughter had to leave her preschool in Kingsbridge too, and now she just plays in the dirt all day."

"Even now, I don't understand why he did this to us."

"I'm in eighth grade now, going to school in Solis Village. The school is a bit better, but yesterday... my dad told me I had to take a leave of absence. He said I'm not allowed to go to school for a while."

Winifred looked into her clear, tearful eyes. Faye seemed to assume her dad was keeping her home to help out once her sister-in-law had the new baby.

Faye sighed again. "Today, Ethan rushed over here demanding they discharge her. I bet my dad is..."

Was Arthur planning to run away because he heard she was back in town?

Winifred clenched her fists.

"If your dad makes you move again, where will you go to school?" she asked.

"I..." Faye choked back a sob. "He probably won't let me go at all."

She sniffled, looking utterly heartbroken. "I feel like... my dad doesn't care if we live or die. He only cares about... outsiders."

Outsiders?

Did she mean Madeleine? Or... Iris?

Winifred’s heart leaped into her throat.

Just as she was about to probe further, Martha’s loud voice echoed up the stairs.

"Faye! Faye!"

Faye immediately jumped away. "Coming!" she yelled, bounding up the steps.

Winifred followed slowly, catching only the retreating backs of the mother and daughter.

And the mother-in-law trailing behind them looked on like a complete stranger.

When Faye ran out of the room, she automatically hurried over to support Claire's other side.

Looking up, Faye murmured something to her.

Claire's head tilted, coming to rest against the young girl's frail shoulder.

Winifred couldn't help but think... once this woman recovered, this marriage would likely be over.

Maybe she’d become the heroine of her own story, leaving the man who treated her like garbage, returning to a supportive family, and living a brilliant life. Or maybe she'd raise her kids on her own, take her poor sister-in-law under her wing, and build her own empire from scratch.

Winifred shook her head.

That wasn't her concern right now.

Her target was Arthur.

Until Arthur Seward faced justice, her vengeance remained incomplete.
