A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 232

He shut his eyes, pressing his lips together as if trying to physically hold back his grin, his dark brows drawing down in an expression of pure, condensed amusement.

Winifred couldn't quite reach. "Lean your head down a little."

"What are you doing, Winnie? Hahahaha!" His fluffy head rested against the window frame as he laughed. As he leaned forward, his collar shifted, leaving a perfect little gap right at the nape of his neck.

Winifred dropped the tiny snowball right into that gap.

"Ah!!"

Leland jumped, his head snapping back as his shoulders clamped together, squirming against the cold shock against his spine. "What did you do to me?!"

Winifred hopped away from the car, laughing and stomping her feet as she watched him frantically shake out his shirt to dislodge the tiny lump of ice.

"You just wait, I'm going to get you back!" he grumbled, his ears red as he bared his teeth playfully.

Throughout the drive, he didn't let it go.

"You have to be exceptionally nice to me today!"

Sitting in the passenger seat, Winifred caught his fiercely adorable glare in the rearview mirror.

"Okay," she coaxed with a smile.

"I want to know exactly how you're going to spoil me."

"Hmm..." She pretended to think. "I'll treat you to the local delicacies of Emerald Town."

Leland's hair practically bristled with anticipation.

She quickly added, "There are over twenty different kinds! All from my hometown."

He tried to play it cool, clearing his throat. "Alright, tell me what's on the menu."

"Spicy herb-roasted potatoes, pickled greens with plantain-leaf jelly, wild mushroom and peppercorn buckwheat noodles, red chili pea cakes, Clay Pot Pork & Mushroom Vermicelli, Pan-Fried Lava Feta, Grilled Goat Skewers..."

Gulp.

At the base of Emerald Mountain lay a massive, sprawling plaza divided into various sections. The prime central area was fenced off as a football field—home to the famous Emerald Village Super League. Matches were held every weekend, drawing teams from all over the country. Because of this, a large grassy area was set aside for tourists to pitch tents and park their cars.

In one corner, there was a petting zoo with ponies, deer, peacocks, mini pigs, rabbits, and colorful chickens, where visitors could buy carrots to feed them. The plaza was surrounded by mountains, with the southern peaks already developed to include resorts and hot springs.

Today was Saturday, and the football tournament was scheduled to kick off at five in the evening.

Winifred stepped out of the car and looked around. Even at eleven in the morning, the place was packed with tourists.

Nearby, a family of three sported matching Messi jerseys. The little boy was kicking a ball on the grass, the dad chasing after it, while the mom ran behind them with a water bottle.

When Leland finished parking and walked over, he couldn't take his eyes off them.

"Wow. What a great spot. I should definitely bring my future kids here. There are mountains, a field, animals, camping..."

Winifred gave him a look. "We haven't even started dating properly yet."

"Who needs formalities?" Leland replied smoothly. "As long as the feeling is mutual, that's all that matters."
