A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 250

"Winifred, come with me," Leland said, his face cold and unyielding as he grabbed her wrist.

Without waiting for her response, he took a massive step forward, forcefully dragging her with him.

"Let go of me!" Winifred dropped her center of gravity, digging her heels in as she fought against his grip.

Milo immediately stepped directly into Leland's path. "Let her go!"

"What exactly is your problem?" Leland was vibrating with anger. "Can just any random guy step up and challenge me now?"

Milo stood his ground. "When you're talking to me, you don't use the word 'challenge.'"

"You want to test that?" Leland gritted his teeth, letting go of Winifred's hand only to ball his own into a fist, aiming it squarely at Milo.

Panicking, Winifred threw herself between the two large men, shoving them apart. "Stop it! No fighting!"

If two men of their status got into a street brawl, the fallout would be catastrophic.

She decided to compromise.

"Milo, go ahead and look around the shops. Let me just talk to him for a minute, and then we'll come find you." Winifred gripped Leland's arm, holding him back while speaking to Milo.

In Milo's eyes, she caught a flicker of hidden sorrow.

It was the look of someone realizing that what they wanted was out of reach, resigning themselves to loneliness.

It reminded her of herself. She, too, was a lone boat drifting through a massive ocean. She never dreamed of being a natural favorite, of being the person everyone revolved around.

All she ever wanted was just a tiny shred of warmth.

Yet, even that pathetic little wish had never come true.

As Leland pulled her across the street, a thought crossed her mind—she should introduce her best friend from college to Milo. They were incredibly similar...

"Still thinking about your precious Milo?" Leland's voice was dripping with venomous sarcasm.

Winifred snapped back to reality.

Leland grabbed a large pack of wet wipes from his car and aggressively ripped out a thick stack.

Before Winifred could even open her mouth to speak, he shoved the wipes against her face.

Leland’s large hand pressed firmly over her lips, scrubbing furiously.

"Mmph—!"

She compromised, following him across the street.

Once they were on the other side, standing under the massive arch of the shopping street, Winifred laid it all out.

"You and I ended before we even started. Stop dragging me around."

Leland let out a cold laugh. "Ended? And what exactly is the reason?"

Before she could answer, he demanded, "Why did you abandon me and run off by yourself today?"

The second he asked, Yvette’s smug face inevitably flashed in Winifred's mind.

Yvette was on Iris’s side.

At that moment, whatever was left of Winifred’s heart for him completely flatlined.

It was cold, and it hurt. She wanted to scream, to unleash all her frustration onto him, but after surviving so much trauma, she simply didn't have the energy to fight Iris’s inner circle anymore.

People rotten to the core weren't worth wasting her life on.

When she didn't answer right away, a dark, cynical smile crept onto Leland’s face. "Oh! I saw it perfectly fine. You went to rendezvous with that ex-husband you’re still so desperately in love with. It’s hard to kiss him with me around, isn't it..."
