A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 252

Having spent enough time around him, Winifred knew exactly what he was doing. He was waiting for her to coax him.

When the comfort didn't come, Leland pouted. "Can't you just humor me a little?"

He smacked the steering wheel. "You heartless woman. You're so frustrating!"

The drive back to Seaport City took over six hours.

By the time he parked in the hotel lot, it was nearly two in the morning.

Leland still hadn't forgotten that he was the injured party in need of comforting.

"Winifred, don't you think you're being a little too cruel?" It seemed he had been bottling up his emotions for hours, and the dam was about to break. He didn't even care if she responded; he just kept pouring his heart out.

"You actually abandoned me and ran off! I went to return the tray to the felt-hat vendor, and when I turned around, you were gone."

"I searched the entire area for you. I asked at least twenty people. I literally ran up Emerald Mountain on foot."

"I was worried sick about you. I cared about you."

"And what do you do? How do you repay me? I find you hugging and kissing your ex-husband!"

"God! I... I must be a total idiot to fall for you..."

Smack!

He punched the steering wheel again.

Whether the steering wheel hurt was debatable, but he immediately hissed in pain, shaking his hand, his face flushed.

"You treat me like this, you don't even explain yourself, and you don't apologize."

"You sneak off with Milo, leaving me standing alone in the freezing parking lot, waiting for you."

Now that he had dumped all his grievances, Winifred picked out the most glaring flaw in his story.

"So, you're saying that right after you gave the tray back to the felt-hat vendor, you came looking for me?"

"She voluntarily started talking about her private family matters. I asked about her mother, and since she was willing to talk, I obviously wasn't going to pass up a lead."

"Besides, I knew how deep your grudge with Iris went. We were having a nice time, and I didn't want to ruin your mood by telling you that your enemies were nearby."

"If you can't be honest with me, it means you have your own agenda," Winifred shot back, her chest heaving.

"Don't make excuses. Because... even if I believe that you haven't been won over by Iris's camp this time, the fact that you're constantly weighing these hidden considerations is a massive red flag. Look at how tightly Yvette is clinging to you. Her intensity is going to sway your judgment. I can't even imagine what you'll turn into in the end."

Winifred opened the car door.

She stepped out, grabbing only her own belongings.

Leland sat frozen in the driver's seat. "So... you don't want me anymore? You're breaking up with me?"

Winifred paused, her hand on the door. "We never even started."

Leland let out a devastated laugh. "Oh. Right. I was just flattering myself. We don't even have the right to break up, do we?"
