A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 270

Basking in their praise and respect, Quentin felt a brief flash of guilt.

What if the truth came out? If Holden and Iris realized he was a fraud, it would ruin the company and completely destroy him.

But the panic faded almost instantly.

He had total confidence when it came to Winifred.

Even though the phone call tonight hadn't gone perfectly and his confession had been cut short, he still held all the cards.

The news out of Seaport City was everywhere.

Winifred had been framed, arrested, and locked up. Sure, she was out and back in Kingsbridge, but she was severely traumatized. She needed time to recover from the Lockwood family's latest assault.

Plus, she needed to rest and regain her strength.

She couldn't work right now, yet she still had two kids and Celeste to feed. They had been living out of hotels, burning through cash just to survive.

Quentin knew Winifred had no savings.

When she worked at his clinic, she survived on whatever scraps he threw her. When he stopped paying her, she took on side gigs just to cover the household expenses.

Three months before she finally quit, Shelly Hale's brother had needed a down payment for a house, so Quentin had handed over three months' worth of clinic profits to Shelly.

He hadn't paid Winifred a dime during that time. Yet, she had a massive family to support—food, utilities, the kids, schooling for Larissa and Demi. She had worked herself to the bone taking on extra jobs just to keep everyone afloat.

She had absolutely no safety net.

Now that she had been through hell again, she desperately needed someone to lean on.

And who else was there?

Who else could offer her a stable, reliable shoulder to cry on?

Him. Quentin Adams. Her senior, and the man she trusted and followed blindly.

Thinking about this, Quentin relaxed.
