Declan frantically ripped off his expensive suit jacket, threw it into the face of his assistant, shoved Winifred aside, and practically snatched Quinn off the floor.
"Give her to me! I have to get her to the hospital immediately!"
Before Winifred could even ask Quinn if she was okay with this, Quinn had already wrapped her arms around Declan's neck.
The second Declan lifted her, massive tears spilled from his eyes and landed softly on Quinn's face.
"Hold on, baby. Just hold on. The doctors will fix you, and the pain will be gone in a second."
Declan broke into a dead sprint.
Winifred and Stanley scrambled to keep up.
Once they burst out the front doors of the restaurant, Winifred turned to Stanley. "You go home. I'm so sorry we couldn't eat, and I'm sorry I missed your appointment. Once I make sure Quinn is okay, I will schedule you in."
"Are you sure you don't need my help?" Stanley eyed Declan's luxury SUV with deep suspicion. The guy was clearly rich, wildly aggressive, and completely out of his mind.
"It's fine. That's Declan Sutton. I know him. I'll go to the hospital with Quinn."
"Alright. Be careful," Stanley waved, rubbing his lower back. "I'll wait for your call."
"Will do."
Winifred jumped into Declan's SUV.
Throughout the drive, Declan was screaming into his phone, calling every medical contact in his rolodex.
By the time they pulled up to Kingsbridge Premier Women & Children's Hospital, a VIP medical team was already waiting at the emergency entrance.
Quinn was rushed straight into the maternity ward's emergency room.
Declan tried to force his way inside but was physically pushed out by the doctors.
He stood in the hallway, his hands gripping the doorframe so tightly his knuckles turned white.
"Sit down and wait," Winifred assured him. "I promise I'll update you the second I hear anything."
"Make sure they take care of her," Declan pleaded, straining his neck to catch a glimpse inside.
"I will."
Winifred slipped inside and closed the door.
"The abdomen sustained severe blunt force trauma. Based on the hemorrhaging, it's critical," the ER obstetrician said, frowning deeply. "And her contractions are intense."
Winifred gently stroked Quinn's pale, sweaty face.
What were her options?
