A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 282

Leaning against the wall, Winifred slowly slid down. Her hips had barely touched the chair when a gurney careened out of the elevator, several people running alongside it as they sprinted toward the surgical wing.

"Make way! Make way!" the medical staff shouted.

Amidst the chaos, a familiar male voice rang out. "Clear the path ahead!"

Winifred turned her head. As the gurney rushed past her right side, she saw her ex-husband, Holden Lockwood, pushing the foot of the bed with an expression of pure agony. He had just left the maternity ward, and now he was here. Fate had a sick sense of humor.

That meant the woman on the gurney had to be Iris Morgan.

Winifred's view had been blocked by the crowd, but as they drew closer, she clearly saw Iris lying there. At the same moment, Iris's wide eyes locked onto her face.

"Winifred? What is she doing here?" Iris gasped from the gurney, her voice catching as she looked up. "Holden..."

"What is it?" Holden leaned down.

"Is she stalking you again? Did she come here specifically to wait for you?"

The implication was obvious: Iris thought Winifred was seizing the opportunity to get close to Holden while she was stuck in surgery.

Holden's response was instantaneous. "Don't worry. I won't give her the chance."

"Don't you dare talk to her," Iris pleaded softly.

"Understood. I promise I won't."

"As soon as I go in, you make her leave!"

"Okay, whatever you say."

The surgery doors swung open, and the front half of the gurney disappeared inside. "Holden, I'm scared," Iris whimpered.

Holden stood at the threshold, projecting his voice to comfort her. "Relax. I'll be right outside waiting for you."
